7 Things to Experience in Lisbon in the Fall 2009

If you happen to be in Lisbon this Fall, these are a few things you might not want to miss. The cold sets in and the colours change. It’s a great time to hide indoors… It’s excellent for a hike too.

Visit Experimenta Design 2009

This International Biennal will be held in Lisbon until the 8th of October. You can read my review on this event or check the program.

Join a Magusto

With Fall, we love eating roasted chestnuts and drink a sort of cheap wine (but good). We sometimes gather around fireplaces or just around a table. Many are the places where you can join in, from restaurants to private houses and outdoors.

Experience some of the best restaurants in town

This is a great time to expereince some of the nicest restaurants in Lisbon. Here’s a small list of the ones I’ve been able to review:

 - Olivier Café – probably my favourite, you can read my review here.

 - Alcântara Café – another favourite, for cool, stylish dinning. Read my review.

 - Flores Restaurant – at the chick Bairro Alto Hotel

 - Bocca Reataurant – named for the 2009 Condé Nast Hot List Tables. Read my review.

 - Restô – dinning over Lisbon. Read my review.

 - Eleven – one Michelin star restaurant. Read my review.

Hide from the cold to a wine evening at Chafariz do Vinho

In the old 18th-century stone aqueduct, at the end of the underground water canal is one of the most interesting wine bars in Lisbon. Read my review on Chafariz do Vinho.

Stay at the luxurious boutique hotel Bairro Alto

This is the first five stars boutique hotel, right in the heart of Lisbon, at Bairro Alto. www.bairroaltohotel.com

See the changing colours at Sintra park and catch some chest nuts

Just another good excuse for a day trip to Sintra. Check those huge chestnut trees…

Check the Jazz jam sessions at Hot Club

No cold can get in this small jazz club. Hot Club was the first club in Lisbon dedicated to Jazz. Still is one of the best, at Praça da Alegria (map).
