The Americans are Coming!

Passenger arrivals at Auckland Airport from the US rose by 3.9% in August compared to last year, partly hiding an overall 0.9% drop in numbers – not bad considering the general fall away in tourism activity generally.

Kiwis more than made up for this drop with a 3.7% increase in domestic passenger numbers in the same month.  Commentators were pointing to the low domestic fares available brought about by the extra competition.

Let’s not forget either that there is always plenty to do in the City of Sails and cheap fares is all that is needed to get more people to visit the number one New Zealand city.
