Foodies Alert …

If you’re a fan of shows like “Top Chef,” “Iron Chef” and “The Next Food Network Star,” then Phoenix Cooks!, an event where the Valley’s top chefs strut their stuff and compete live on three interactive stages, is right up your alley.

For action packed “foodie” fun, The 5th annual Phoenix Cooks! delivers scrumptious creations from more than 50 of the Valley’s best restaurants. Also on display will be boutique wineries, spirits and specialty kitchen retailers.

The event is scheduled on Saturday, September 5 at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa. Nearly 40 chefs including Beau MacMillan (elements at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain), Lee Hillson (T. Cooks at The Royal Palms), Donald Lemperle (Asia de Cuba at The Mondrian), Chuck Wiley (Café Zu Zu at Hotel Valley Ho) and Michael Rusconi (LON’s at The Hermosa Inn) will share their cooking secrets and other tips. The proceeds benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

New this year is a Dine-Around with the Kierland Common’s top Executive Chefs from Deseo, North , Tommy Bahama’s and Zinc Bistro. They open their kitchens for an exquisitely prepared culinary experience. Guests travel in intimate groups between restaurants sipping, dining and mingling with other Valley foodies.

This event sounds like a great way to indulge in some fantastic food and learn some great tricks in the kitchen.
