San Antonio Day Trips: Dixie Dude Ranch

San Antonio visitors and residents may enjoy a short day trip outside the city to one of the neighboring communities, landmarks or attractions. Dixie Dude Ranch is a working stock ranch founded in 1901 on 725 acres in Bandera, TX – just 55 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio.

At Dixie Dude Ranch, you can experience organized activities for families and individuals such as horseback riding, swimming, fishing, hiking, hayrides and more. You can also go through a Native American Purification Ceremony, enjoy on an overnight trailride, or get a very relaxing massage.

There are a variety of different types of accommodations available at Dixie Dude Ranch – duplex cabins, cottages and bunkhouse rooms. All rooms are air-conditioned with private baths.

Three home-cooked meals are included in the Dixie Dude Ranch prices. You’ll love the barbeques, fried chicken and much more.

To get to Dixie Dude Ranch from San Antonio, take Highway 16 North to Bandera (about 45 miles), turn left on Highway 173. Go about 1/2 mile south and turn right on Ranch Road 1077. Drive seven miles. You can’t miss the Ranch entrance on the right.
