Afternoon Tea with a Waterfront View at the Boston Harbor Hotel

Boston does love a tea party. And many downtown hotels have adopted the “veddy Briddish” custom of afternoon tea. The afternoon tea at the Boston Harbor Hotel (70 Rowes Wharf, Boston, 617-856-7744) (Map) is really something of a secret-it is one of the nicest and most affordable afternoon teas in town. The afternoon tea is available every day from 2:30-4:00 in the hotel’s newly revamped dining spot, the Rowes Wharf Sea Grille. It’s a handsome room- a breezy ,contemporary space with a subtle maritime theme and large windows facing Boston Harbor.tea

For afternoon tea you will find your table crisply dressed in a white Frette linen tablecloth and strewn with rose petals .The traditional tri-level serving tray is appropriately indulgent. There are warm scones and tea breads accompanied by Devonshire cream and fresh strawberries on the first tier. Next you will find an assortment of carefully crafted finger sandwiches- among them turkey with a touch of curry, an open-face maple smoked salmon sandwich, and a shrimp avocado tartlet. Leave room for the third tier- a selection of seasonal pastries and tarts. Along with the sweets and savories you will enjoy a steaming pot of your favorite brew. It’s quite a spread for just $18.50!
