Water Fun in Wintertime

An excellent indoor activity when it’s rainy or cold is a visit to one of the many indoor wave pools in the Lower Mainland. With their psuedo tropical decor and waves splashing on a pretend beach, you can relax and have oodles of fun. Wave pools aren’t just for kids. Adults can frolic in the waves or lunge on the ‘shore’ with refreshments while the children play.

The City Centre Aquatic Complex in Coquitlam has not only a wave pool and water slides, but also an Olympic pool, swirlpool, adult steam room and sauna. Open daily 10.30 – 9 pm Tel 604-927-6999

At the Karen Magnusson Recreation Centre in North Vancouver they have boogie boards, fun mats, basketball and volleyball. Parents can enjoy a workout in the weight room or soak in the whirlpool. Or if you don’t want to swim, lace up your skates and enjoy the public skating in the arena. (Skate rentals available) Tel 604-987-PLAY (7529)
