Obama’s Presidential Inauguration– Munich Style

Just because you’re in Munich does not mean that you cannot enjoy the Presidential Inauguration! Regardless of whether or not you’re American, Munich invites you to take part in one of it’s many Obama-rama themed festivities.

If you’re looking to spend the evening in splendor, celebrate the Inauguration at Munich’s Inaugural Ball at the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel Ballroom, located at the Arabellastr. 6, which you can easily get to on the U4. Advanced registration is required, so send a quick email to MunichInauguralBall2009@gmail.com. Doors open at 16.30, where you’ll see the live Inauguration and speech at 18.00 followed by drinks, dinner and dancing. Formalwear would be suggested, price is 75EU per person. Payment at the door is an option.

Of course, bars across the city will be showing the historic moment that Obama becomes the USA’s 44th President. I would suggest hitting up any bar with a television! Try Feuerberg, which prides itself in it’s American food and atmosphere. Or Kilians Irish Pub, which is also connected by a very short hallway to Ned Kelly’s Australian Bar, located right near Marienplatz. You could also check out Champions Bar (located in the Marriott Hotel), which is so much like an American sports bar that you’ll forget which country you’re in! All four suggestions have great food, good drinks and even better atmosphere!

Enjoy!
